Weiand's Air Scoop provides the competition look of an Enderle style fuel injection air scoop used on nostalgia Top Fuel and Funny Cars. Designed to bolt-on most aftermarket tunnel ram intake manifolds and superchargers, utilizing two inline 4-barrel carburetors with 5-1/8" diameter necks, and 7-3/4" to 9-1/4" center line spacing. The scoop is a precision cast-aluminum air scoop that is fully machined and polished to a high luster. Three large diameter butterflies are red anodized and operate off the carburetor linkage.

But what about the bearings?

Having prior experience with Weiand products and Holley service, I'm pleased with the speed of delivery and packaging did a swell job of protecting my new scoop. The fit and finish are exactly the high quality I expected and while beautifully engineered and obviously the shaft bore and alignment is perfect [especially compared to other knock offs]....I am rather disappointed by one thing. I had read that the shaft would be bearing supported. ...This IS NOT. My concern being that:A. shaft action affects throttle action. A definite issue when mounted to 1100 HP. B. Longevity. A steel shaft on cast aluminum is not a great bearing surface match. Eventually resulting in wear to the main housing.We all know what happens then.....the throttle sticks. Now while some might say "not in your life time". To which I say BS. The Weiand tunnel ram and the majority of my Holley parts are 40 years old. And I'm building this Merlin/Manly 565 for the last act before I pass this 66 Malibu on down the line to what will probably be its last owner. .... I prefer not to pass on anything with a known weakness.....But what's a fella to do ? By the way....I bet if this were a fuel injection scoop intended for on top of a blower?...It would have bearings.
