Scali Motorsports Uses Holley EFI To Win NHRA's Division 3 Race and JEGS Allstar Championship
Bowling Green, KY--The Scali Motorsports team won back-to-back events this June, with its Holley Dominator EFI equipped 712 cid big-block Camaro. On June 9th, the team took first place in the Top Sportsman class, at the NHRA Division 3 race at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, IL. "The Holley EFI system brought us our first Wally of the season at the NHRA Division 3 race," says John Scali Sr, Scali Motorsports owner and crew chief. "This was only our third time out with the Holley system and the performance was reliable and consistent. With a little testing we learned it quickly and ran our number time after time."
The team also participated in the JEGS Allstar National competition June 27-30, also at Route 66 Raceway, and won the competition to become the JEGS Allstar Champion for 2013. "We represented Division 3 in the Top Sportsman category," says Scali. "Not only did we win the individual title of JEGS Allstar Champion, we helped Division 3 win the team title. The car ran perfect throughout the competition against the best in the country."
As crew cheif, John Scali Sr. decided to switch from another EFI system to the Holley Dominator EFI, which has produced greater results for the team. "The Holley system allows you to change and control more options than other systems," he explains. "The Data Logger has more memory and is capable of holding multiple runs. There is no data lost, and it holds your complete data history. Plus, the distributor-less ignition eliminates rotor phasing when using multiple stages of nitrous."
The team is very proud of their recent victories, but are also excited to the consistency and the performance the Camaro is now achieving. "The JEGS Allstar win, makes eight consecutive undefeated rounds," says Scali.
Scali Motorsports is based out of Chicago, IL and the '67 Camaro was built by Ricky Adkins Race cars. It uses a 4130 chromoly tube chassis and an ATI Power Glide transmission. In addition to Holley, Scali thanks Ricky Adkins Race Cars, Charlie Sikes Performance Engineering, ATI Transmissions, Mickey Thompson Tires and Sparco for their success.
