2012 marks the third year of the LS Fest Engine Swap Challenge. Join us as the 2010 champions from Hot Rod Barn and the 2011 champions from the School of Automotive Machinists faceoff to see whose boss when it comes to swapping out a running non-LS engine in favor of a complete LS drivetrain loaded with Holley products. Expect to see a very close competition!
So grab some nachos and a coke and park your butts on the bleachers. Holley is changing the rules even more this year in order to make the competition more challenging and competitive for both teams. This year a team is only allowed two people and they will have to install several bolt-ons to the engines before installing and running them. As always, the winners will be going home with the engine and the installed Holley products.
As with the previous year's challenges, Holley will supply an area to work, an engine hoist, and the engine for each team. Each team must supply their own vehicle, fluids, drain pans, hand tools, and everything else to make the swap happen. No air/power tools will be permitted. Each vehicle must drive under its own power through the front gate and into the Engine Swap Challenge area where it will be allowed to cool until the official start time.
To win the contest, the vehicle must have the engine in the engine bay; it must start using the ignition key, idle, and drive on a predetermined route led by contest officials. Some engine assembly will be required for the competition (short block will be assembled).
Full official rules have been supplied to both teams participating in this challenge.
