BEST IT RACING’S ANDY LEE CONTINUES STRING OF POLES AND PODIUMS IN INFINITY ECU-TUNED

PIRELLI WORLD CHALLENGE GTS CHEVY CAMARO

In seven races with Infinity ECU, Lee has three Poles,

two Fastest Laps, one 1st and three 2nd Place Finishes

July 17th, 2013, Hawthorne, CA – It’s no secret to anyone who follows Pirelli World Challenge racing that GTS driver Andy Lee is one racer to watch. The Best IT Racing driver pilots the #20 Bondurant/Crown Seven Chevy Camaro, and since the team’s addition of an AEM Infinity ECU on the LS3 engine, Lee has started from the Motul Pole Position three times (COTA2, Detroit1 and Lime Rock1), has one First Place finish (COTA2), three Second Place finishes (COTA1, Lime Rock 1 and Toronto) and two record fast laps at COTA. Lee has also started in the second position two times since switching to the Infinity.

It was at the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) trade show that Lee inquired about the Infinity when he saw it in the AEM Electronics booth. At that time Lee was coming off a banner rookie season but had concerns about reliability and the overall engine control/capabilities of the car’s existing ECU. It didn’t hurt that he saw a friendly face in Paul St. Clair in the booth either. St. Clair, formerly of Nissan Motorsports had supported Lee’s previous racing efforts in a Nissan and is one of AEM’s Technical Sales experts.

AEM’s goal was to eliminate the issues the team had the previous season to improve vehicle consistency, which would help both Lee and teammate Harry Curtin (#29 Best IT Camaro) focus on driving, and incorporate some features that would help give the team a more competitive advantage. “Andy told us that the computer they were using had problems in the middle of races last season and that the data logging was rudimentary,” commented St. Clair. The Infinity’s robust hardware and circuitry encapsulated by a sealed enclosure and weatherproof connectors eliminated those issues, and its ability to log up to 100 channels at 1,000 samples per second took care of the data log shortcomings. With a restricted engine, power was slightly increased and the power curve is now smoother and more predictable. The team also has the ability to use launch control and a pit lane limiter, controlled through the Infinity ECU.

"The Infinity system allowed us to make quick and precise changes at Circuit of the Americas and helped us clinch our first win of the season!” stated driver Andy Lee. “It has eliminated the issues we had last year and the data logging tells us in great detail what is going on with the car every lap."

The Infinity EMS delivers high-end engine control for the racing masses at a fraction of the cost. Built around a latest-generation 200MHz automotive processor, the Infinity is capable of processing 400 MIPS (millions of instructions per second). For a limited time, all Infinity systems come fully enabled without the need for feature add-on purchases. Combined with AEM’s industry leading after-purchase support system, including free technical support, the Infinity is the ultimate engine control solution for both professional race teams and weekend track cars.
