Engineering Lab Technician

Job Skills and Knowledge

¨      Contribute to the overall organization and maintenance of the Engineering lab.

¨      Maintain an orderly, safe, and clean work station at all times.

¨      Perform routine service, troubleshooting, repair and test hardware changes on test vehicles.

¨      Modification and fabrication of prototype test components with little direction from engineer.

¨      Broad level of vehicle testing to general engineering plans including data reduction and graphing of results, etc.

¨      Instrumentation and test setup and operation of test stands and vehicle tests with limited engineering oversight.

¨      Independently perform calibration and verification of all lab equipment.

¨      Dynamometer engine installation and instrumentation.

¨      Clear communication with others such as design, tool room, maintenance, and outside services in the performance of duties.

¨      Hands on mechanical experience with automotive aftermarket parts.

Work Experience

¨      At least two years of experience in the automotive market.

¨      Must be able to use a PC and software for word processing, spreadsheets, etc. 

Minimum Qualifications

¨      High School Diploma or GED

¨      Must be able to stand for long periods of time, up to 10 hours per day.

¨      May need to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.

¨      Working mechanical knowledge of vehicles, tools, and shop equipment

¨      Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills.
