Father-and-Son Team Win Brian Tooley Racing/Car Craft Bolt-On Challenge
In Brian Tooley Racing/Car Craft Bolt-On Challenge competition, Colin Pendley and Nick McIvor, auto techs from Campbell Chevrolet in Bowling Green, Ky. took on the father-and-son team of Eric and Austin Bujnevicie. Each team started with a junkyard 6.0L truck engine with more than 100,000 miles on it, and each mechanic worked in tandem with his teammate to rip the engine apart and rebuild the top end with high-performance components from some of the premier names in the industry.
The object: be the first team to fire your rebuilt engine and idle it for 30 seconds. To compound the degree of difficulty, no power tools were allowed. After a hard-fought, closely contested mechanical battle, the Bujnevicies claimed victory with a winning time of two hours, 10 minutes and 48 seconds. Pendley and McIvor were right behind them with a time of two hours and 25 minutes.
For their efforts, the Bujnevicies took home the complete 475-horsepower engine they rebuilt, which is fitted with some of the finest components in the industry: a complete Holley Terminator EFI system, Brian Tooley Racing camshaft, aluminum Air Flow Research cylinder heads, Optima battery, Sniper intake manifold and valve covers, Hooker BlackHeart A-Body mid-length headers, ACCEL coils, Mr. Gasket gaskets, retro-fit Holley oil pan, and a steel Hays flywheel.
