Flowmaster/B&M/Hurst: R & D Technician I/Scheduler

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:


1.     Communicate and coordinate with shop foreman and others in regards to scheduling all shop test vehicles for product development & video needs.

2.     Pick up and return test vehicles to dealerships along with drive vehicles for videos.

3.     Conduct, document product installations on numerous vehicle types and model years.

4.     Fabrication and welding of components and assemblies for testing.

5.     General shop support for senior R&D technicians.

6.     Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

7.     Perform other duties as assigned.


SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


1.     Strong ability to coordinate and schedule multiple test vehicles based on shop/video department needs.

2.     Outgoing, friendly personality with excellent communication skills.

3.     Must have basic metal fabrication skills such as cutting, welding, drilling and grinding.

4.     Mechanical ability to remove stock vehicle components and replace with test products.

5.     Ability to perform basic measurements using tape measure and/or digital calipers.

6.     Familiar with general automotive design and function.

7.     Possess basic MIG and TIG welding skills.

8.     Basic computer skills, word processing, spreadsheet, and Microsoft Windows program background.

9.     Must have clean driving record and valid Idaho state driver’s license.

10. Responsible and respectful driving demeanor when driving loaner vehicles.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent, or a minimum of 5 years work experience in related trade.


LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction and division. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratio to practical situations.


REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold, extreme heat, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
