2021 Holley Hot Rod Reunion: Old-School Cool, Front-Engine Fuel Dragster| 08/19/2021
Rick Lawson brought his 1932 fuel coupe front-engine dragster out to Beech Bend raceway for the 2021 Holley Hot Rod Reunion. The car runs in the Competition Eliminator class with a small-block engine fed by Hilborn Mechanical injection. A Powerglide transmission sends grunt to the car’s original 1958 olds rear end and Lawson’s son pulls driving duty while he spins wrenches in the pits.

Will Hobgood showed up to the 2021 Holley Hot Rod Reunion in a slick, restomod-style 1937 Ford he calls, “Jus’ fun.” The project, which began life as a kit car, took him 6 years to build and features some thorough customization and trick parts. Power comes from a 525hp LS3 engine and it’s channeled through a 6-speed automatic transmission to a fully independent rear suspension. Hobgood’s currently showing the car off a bit at shows before he takes to the open road, and the future plan is to keep the car in the family by handing it down to his kids.

Dubbed the “Skart,” Clay Wahlstedt and Dale Schwartz of Schwartz Performance combined one of the company’s A-body chassis with an LS engine and a little bit of custom fabrication to build a drivable display/prototype testing rig. What they ended up creating was the ultimate grown-up go kart.
