Holley EFI engineer Matthew Lunsford was announced as one of Drag Illustrated's 30 under 30 during PRI 2019. Matt, a mechanical engineer and Holley EFI R&D specialist has been a part of the division's growth over the last few years. He has played a role in their popular Sniper EFI systems development and his own race car has been apart of Holley EFI testing. We would like to congratulate Matt on this much-deserved achievement.

Matt's automotive passion began in his early teens where he purchased a 1996 Mustang to drive too high school. That plan soon dissolved as he began bracket racing eventually converting it into a full-time race car by the time he entered college. A self-taught fabricator, he began designing and building custom cages for local racers under his business "NeverLift Race Cars" and helped fund his Mechanical Engineering degree. Once he graduated, he landed a position with Holley in their Blackheart exhaust group and eventually transferred to the EFI group and his current position. Matt continues to race his 96' Mustang in X275 classes and at popular grudge events.

Lunsford's 96 Mustang started life as a basic commuter and soon spitballed into what you see today. Over the years a few different engine combinations sat between the front tires, a centrifugally supercharged 351W, a stock bottom end LM7 5.3L with a small turbo and more. But, today a 388" LS resides making close to 2000HP. Matt utilizes Holley's Dominator EFI system with 16 injectors shoving a ton of methanol down its throat. A rather large front mount turbo helps move things along and the car is now capable of low 4.50's in an 1/8th mile. We look forward to seeing what is next in store for this SN95 as Matt continues to find the limit of the small mouse motor, he is aiming for high 4.30's in 2020!
