The first round of Hot Rod Drag Week 2021 kicked off at US 131 Motorsports Park in Milan, Michigan. After the previous day of tech and testing, the racers squared off against the strip and made their first hits. Dave Schroder, in Unlimited, showed up with a 2019 Corvette that was all-new and on his shakedown pass, clicked a mid-6-second quarter mile that saw him lifting after getting a bit too far out of center. Jonathan Chmura's Chevrolet Beretta decided that Drag week was a fate worse than death and decided to end things early by windowing the engine block, taking the car out of competition before it had a chance to compete. Mikeal Borggren's 1987 Volvo 240 station wagon was raising eyebrows, with the Swedish brick moving out to the tune of about seven seconds, and David Armentrout's 1967 Chevrolet Nova had a turbocharger completely call it quits after oiling down the headers on it's own mid-seven second pass.

Day Two will see the racers make the drive southeast to Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio.
