Kibbe And Friends Kicks Off The New Year With The Story Of The Origin Of The General Lee

The Kibbe and Friends Show has returned for 2022, and the team of Rob Kibbe, "Corndog" Cornette, and Bernie McPhartland have left the holiday season behind and have started the year off right with one of the most important episodes in the Dukes of Hazzard: the story of how the General Lee Charger became...well, the General Lee. The story of the origin regarding Hazzard County's most visible Mopar was never really addressed early on in the show's run. It isn't until the beginning of the seventh season of the show that you get the full story regarding the circumstances that saw an absolutely demolished black 1969 Dodge Charger dragged into Cooter's Garage, only to emerge days later with red-orange paint, the Vectors, the pushbar, the Dixie horn and the nameplate. You also get the backstory on the circumstances that put the Dukes into their financial dramas that, of all things, explains why Daisy works at Boss Hogg's Boar's Nest restaurant. Of course, the story involves bank robbers, gold dust, and more.

Tom Wopat (Luke Duke himself) directed this episode, and whether you see the General Lee Charger as simply an iconic, hot-rodded Charger or as something much more (think a personified vehicle, in a similar vein to the "Christine" Plymouth Fury but much less malevolent) it is a great way to see how the General Lee Charger actually came to be. Better to tell that story later than never, right?
