Pushing a modest 1,200 horsepower on the daily and capable of 1,500 with a turn of the dial, this truck has already seen low 5s on the 1/8th-mile strip. But today, it’s loaded with leather seats, a working stereo, A/C, and a nine-year-old riding shotgun.
For Thomas Little, the Colorado is more than a project—it’s part of a family tradition. “This used to be my brother’s drag truck,” Thomas said. “Now I use it as a parts getter. Grocery runs, Sunday cruises, highway pulls—it’s a go-anywhere truck now.”
The forged bottom-end 6.0-liter LS features a 96mm billet turbo and the motor is backed by a Turbo 400 outfitted with a Freak Show converter and Ford 8.8 rear end. It’s controlled by a Holley EFI Dominator ECU system with a Holley digital dash and Holley Sniper EFI intake manifold, all tuned for E85. On the street, it’s running “mild” boost—right around 1,200 rear-wheel horsepower.
The truck was originally a dedicated drag build, stripped and lightened, with a Domino’s Pizza sign slapped on the roof for laughs. “We used to call it the pizza delivery truck,” Thomas said with a smile. “Just out there having fun.”
Now, with Corbeau leather seats, full carpet, and a functional sound system, it still hauls—but it also hauls groceries.
“Steven’s the serious one,” Thomas joked. “I just wanted something I could hop in and drive.”
Despite being his first LS Fest as a participant, Thomas isn’t new to the scene. He owns Central Texas Customs and Classics, a shop based in Bertram, just north of Austin. The shop builds LS and LT swaps, classic restorations, and wild street cars with daily drivability.
“This truck is kind of the shop mascot,” Thomas said. “We built it to be stupid fast, but also stupid reliable. It’s roadworthy, inspected, insured—everything works.”
The best part of the weekend wasn’t the horsepower, the burnouts, or the builds—it was sharing it all with his son, Bowen Little, age nine.
Whether it’s a record-breaking pass or a pizza-liveried street truck pushing 1,500 horsepower, everyone has a reason for being here.
For the Littles, it’s in the blood.
