Machining Team Leader

The Team Leader is responsible for coordinating all of the work in the machining work areas to achieve all key business metrics (Safety/Quality/Delivery/Cost). Team Leader carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization's quality standards, policies, and applicable laws.


Summary of Job Duties:

  • Provide daily direction to machining team in applicable value stream(s).
  • Team Oriented and ability to work across departments to gain support.
  • Track daily productivity, scrap, downtime, OEE and ensure that any issues are addressed immediately. No long time delays to countermeasure with Short & Long term countermeasures.
  • Insure that all product produced in the department meets the quality requirements.
  • Lead and manage operators/operations in the department.
  • Ensure Hour-by-Hour boards are completed as required and actions taken to address issues quickly.
  • Insure production is reported accurately, maintain accurate inventory, and resolve negatives daily.
  • Create and Maintain written standardized work for all jobs in your value stream.
  • Train all team members in the value stream on standard work and quality standards.
  • Train all personnel in value stream to standard work and ensure effective cross training is done for better trained and diverse work team. Utilize training matrix
  • Interpret specifications, work instructions, BOM’s, and job orders to workers, and assign duties.
  • Establish or adjust work procedures when necessary to meet production schedules and optimize work flow through the department.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems or assist operators in solving work problems.
  • Plan and execute all training required to enhance the skills and competency of all employees with the department. Insure adequate backup for all positions.
  • Professionally interface with other critical areas: other production areas, quality, engineering, planning, purchasing, and customer service.
  • Any other duties assigned


Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 to 5 years related experience preferred.
  • Basic computer knowledge (word, excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical and analysis skills.
  • Strong people skills for leadership
  • Able to lift 40 – 50 pounds
