Team Superchips Wins Big at Calrocs

At the end of a near-perfect weekend on the rocks, Team Superchips finished ahead of 7 other pro mod teams by 100+ points. With its giant granite obstacles and scenic mountain backdrop, the Donner Ski Ranch has been one of rock crawling’s favorite venues for well over a decade. The Donner events have also been some of Jesse Haines most memorable events with now a half dozen wins there since 2008.

Since regular spotter, Mike Berard, wasn’t able to make this event, Haines called on former spotter AJ Seckman to fill in. On Saturday, the courses started off fairly tame, and after 3 of that day’s 6 courses, the duo found themselves trailing by one point. The next 2 courses literally won the event for Haines and Seckman. Of the 8 teams competing, only one other team finished the 4th course, and no one else finished the 5th. Not only did they finish those 2 courses, but they also did so with only one total backup and only 2 all day! With only 2 courses on Sunday, Haines and Seckman cruised to victory and even extended their lead in the process.

Haines said after the event – “I feel like I’ve been getting better all year as I get to know my car a little better. I think we have a legitimate shot at the national championship in this car.”

Only one rock crawl remains on Team Superchips schedule this year. The team travels to Mason, TX to compete for the national championship on September 12-13. Be sure to follow Jesse on Facebook to keep up on all the latest with Team Superchips.
