Imagine yourself strapped to a front engine, top-fuel powered dragster with a short wheel base and hanging on at 200 mph? That's what it was like for AA/Fuel Altered race cars back in the '60's. Calling these cars wild, scarry and unpredictable is an understatement. You can see one of the most famous AA/Fuel altered vehicles in action, at the 8th Annual Holley NHRA National Hot Rod Reunion, taking place June 18-20th at Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The Winged Express, was and is a popular AA/Fuel altered. It's driven by Mike Boyd and promises to deliver a wild ride at the event. Many other nostalgic and custom race cars, hot rods and customs will also be in attendance at this show. Entrance is just $20 per day for Friday and Saturday and on Sunday it’s only $15. The first 1,000 spectators through the gate on Sunday will get a free Mattel Hot Wheels in honor of Father’s Day. The best value is to purchase credentials prior to May 29, 2010 which includes three days of admission, a goody bag with Reunion program, commemorative dash plaque and laminated credential card. Three-day credentials ($55 each) are available by calling 800/884-NHRA or online at http://store.nhra.com; outside the U.S. call (626) 250-2497. One-day tickets will be available at the gate. An even better deal is that children 16 and under are admitted free with a paid adult. For more information, visit http://museum.nhra.com Photo by: Marc Gewertz.
