Ever wonder who you’ve been talking to on the Holley Technical Service line? If you called anytime between 2003 and 2011, you might have been talking to a real gearhead like Kyle Smith. However, now he's in product management working on upcoming Holley parts.
Kyle picked up this ’87 Camaro that, in his words, was "well worn." He bought it with intentions of fixing it up, making it fast, and running it at the track. The car has been through several engine changes over the years sometimes due to broken parts and sometimes just to try and find a little more power. His final (for now) combination is a 425-horsepower 355-inch small-block Chevy with Holley StealthRam intake, 58mm throttle body, 36 PPH injectors, Dominator EFI, Hooker Super Competition Darkside headers, and Hooker Aero Chamber exhaust. Needless to say, he’s taken advantage of his employee discount.
He would row through his T-56 6-speed every week at Beech Bend Raceway or Music City but after a couple differential failures he decided to take the Camaro off the track and just enjoy it on the street. That won’t last long as a trip to the Silver State Classic has given him the bug to convert his car to run on the open road courses. It will take a lot of work, but Kyle is up for the challenge!
