Holley People News

Lucas Embry is a professional perfectionist and Holley Engineering Lab Specialist. He’s been with the company only a couple years but has made quite an impact. Lucas has had his hands on the infamous ’74 Chevelle wagon that’s toured the country. When he’s not tinkering on Holley’s project cars, he’s working with Holley products in the testing phase. He is on the dyno testing and tuning our pre-production parts on everything from big-block Fords to LS engines. He performs flow and durability testing on fuel pumps, regulators, and filters. He lends a hand on just about anything that comes through the Holley R&D shop.

Before Holley, Lucas worked at dealerships and as a painter for Dupont. He has earned 14 different automotive painting certifications, is a Platinum I-Car certified technician, and an ASE-certified master painter. Needless to say, this guy has a hard time doing anything half way.

He bought this ’84 Chevy C10 seven years ago with the intention to clean up and flip it. After spending a short amount of time refinishing some of its less attractive parts, he became attached and decided to keep the truck for himself. Being a perfectionist, he couldn't just clean it up. Over the last six years, the truck went through several transformations under the hood, but landed on the one that made putting miles on the truck the easiest. After seeing the LS motor thrive in the wagon and on dyno mules, he had to have one for the truck. He swapped in a 5.3L with all of the applicable Holley products. He is running Dominator EFI, oil pan, fuel rails, engine swap mounts, valve covers, headers, accessory drive brackets, fuel pump, and lines. No doubt he is making great use of his prized employee discount. With a background in bodywork, Lucas made sure this truck's panels were flat and smooth.

The one-year thrash for the frame off and engine swap was only possible because of help from buddy Alan Pendley, and some of Holley’s other employees who lent a hand. If it weren’t for these people, he would still be spending all-nighters wrenching at home!
