Holley People News '98 C2500 HD Pick-up

Word in ’97 was that the next model year would be the last of Chevy’s current body style and the last model with a 454-ci big-block Chevy. “It was December so I bought the truck as a Christmas present from me to me,” says Tom Kise, Technical Service Lead for 12 years at Holley. The perfect combination of options and special features didn’t seem to exist in nature, so Tom had to special order it. The mix of options was so unusual, the dealer asked for an extra hefty deposit. He ordered it with what they felt were odd requests: an HD 5-speed manual, air bag delete, no leather, no power rear view mirror, steel rally wheels, but filled with every other option offered. They figured that if he backed out they would have a hard time selling a loaded C2500 HD special ordered with every HD option available.

In late 2010 Tom decided to make a few changes. First was to add Holley Dominator EFI that controls fuel and ignition, all monitored on the Holley LCD touch screen. “The truck has never run better. Throttle response and torque increases are amazing from a stock long block,” says Tom. Exhaust is all Hooker with Super Comp headers and Aero Chamber mufflers on 3-inch custom pipes. Future plans include a fresh engine and a 177 Weiand blower on a custom MPI intake.

There’s no doubt Tom loves his truck and so do we! “It’s been a faithful companion. I figure I will hang on to it until I die, or until Chevy brings back the big-block,” he shares.
