The Hooker BlackHeart Mustang Is Gone!
Over a year ago, Holley and Hooker Headers purchased a 2015 Ford Mustang GT. Holley and Hooker then teamed up with NOS, DiabloSport, Eibach, Forgeline, Airaid, and MGW to provide the winner with all of the parts necessary to make the Mustang track-ready.
Over the course of the contest, tens of thousands entered to win the Mustang as it made several appearances across the country, including a long haul on the 2015 Hot Rod Power Tour. When it was finally time to draw, Ron Masters of Frankfort, Indiana had lady luck on his side... until he came looking for the BlackHeart Mustang. Matthew Lunsford has played an integral role in developing the Hooker BlackHeart brand over the past�year�as an exhaust engineer. While that has been a big task that has come a long way in a short time, he still finds time for one of his hobbies; namely going fast on small tires.
Matt's weapon of choice is the same one he's used since he began racing. This 1996 Mustang GT is actually his first car. In the early days with the car, Matt was making 16-second passes. As you can tell now, it moves out with a slightly higher sense of urgency.
Matt tossed the 215 horsepower 4.6L V8 that Ford originally equipped it with in favor of a true stock bottom end 6.0L GM LS engine. A Holley Dominator EFI system commands a set of Holley smart coils and controls the boost from a 76 mm turbo, which he monitors from a Holley EFI Digital Dash. To keep things cool under the hood, Matt also opted for a Frostbite radiator. That power is transmitted�through a 25.3 chassis that houses a Powerglide transmission and Racecraft 9" rear end. A little set of 26" x 8.5" radials have propelled the car to a best of 5.40 @ 127 mph in the 1/8 mile thus far. When his new 388 cubic inch LSX-based engine is complete, Matt hopes to get it into the four-second zone!
