Holley Performance and Midwest Drift Union are once again teaming up to bring the Lucas Oil Drift Challenge back to Beech Bend Raceway for the 2016 Holley LS Fest.
Drift teams will arrive throughout the morning and early afternoon on Friday, September 9th amidst the additional action packed segments of LS Fest (drag racing, autocross, dyno challenge, etc.). That evening drift practice will commence at 6:00 p.m. During this time driver's will spend their time getting familiarizing themselves with the course layout as well as ensuring that their cars are properly setup. The entire Beech Bend facility has been updated with a property wide repave since last year so drivers will need to get used to the new surface inside the oval.
Drifting will pick back up Saturday afternoon as qualifying takes place from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Each competitor will have two opportunities to attack a lap at full bore in order to lay down their best possible run on course. From those laps judges will assemble the top sixteen bracket of competition for the main event.
Holley's LS Fest Drift Challenge will commence at 6:15 p.m. in front of a packed venue of LS Fest and drifting fans. High revving V8's, huge smokestreams, and tandem drift competition are just some of the elements you can expect to see, hear and feel. Drivers are competing for a $1,500 check and a set of Cosmis Racing Wheels for top prize, while second and third place podium finishers will take home a $750 and $375 Holley/MSD product certificate. All three podium finishers will be taking home a special edition Grip Royal steering wheel trophy.
