REKUDO Rear Suspension System

Not Available

OEM cars from the 1970s were designed for narrow bias-ply tires and had notoriously poor handling. Consumers today want to upgrade to modern wheel and tire packages and improve their handling. Rekudo has solved this problem with its new suspension kits for the 1970-1981 Camaro/Firebird platforms. This suspension system is an auto-cross inspired modern suspension system that retains the original equipment (OE) appearance, style, and strength. Each component is fully engineered to work together as a system for modern handling that is suitable for street driving, auto-cross, and track days. Now you can retain the OEM look, but get all the benefits from modern Components, lowered stance, upgraded brakes and improved shocks. The 4-wheel disc brake upgrade (Corvette style 4-piston calipers for both front and rear) was offered on the 1968 Camaro as a "Heavy Duty Service" package sold through the parts counter at Chevrolet car dealers. In 1969, the 4-piston disc brakes could be ordered as a Regular Production Option (RPO) JL8 package on production vehicles. These high-end brakes were made available to support racing programs like the Sports Car Club of Americaยฎ (SCCA), and Trans-Amยฎ road racing series. This unique brake option is very rare and was only sold on about 200 production vehicles. Use with Corvette C3 rear brake calipers and rotors. This Virtual Kit is configurable in the Shopping Cart - You can add or delete parts once they have been added to the shopping cart. If there are any parts that you don't need at this time, they can be removed from the shopping cart before checkout.

Minimum 15-inch diameter wheels are required for caliper clearance with 11.75" diameter rotors (low-profile wheel weights may be necessary for some 15-inch wheels). Fits Factory GM 10-Bolt 8.2", 10-Bolt 8.5", and 12-Bolt Rear Axles (with Staggered Rear Shocks) REKUDO JL8 Brake System - Fitment Notes: 1970-1981 Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird - Vehicles must use the whole REKUDO JL8 front and rear brake system since the parts are unique (front spindles, rotors, front hubs, dust shields, rear calipers adapters, calipers, and brake hoses/hardlines). The REKUDO JL8 front brake system must use the front spindle set RK600-02 (since it has the caliper mounts and spindle pin for the front calipers and front hubs). The REKUDO JL8 rear brakes work with the factory GM 10-bolt 8.2", 10-bolt 8.5", or 12-bolt rear axles (with staggered rear shocks) and factory C3 Corvette rear drum-style parking brakes (inside the hat of the rear rotors). Recommended Master Cylinder/Brake Booster - factory Power Brake Booster with master cylinder (1.125" bore size).
