The 4-wheel disc brake upgrade (Corvette style 4-piston calipers for both front and rear) was offered on the 1968 Camaro as a "Heavy Duty Service" package sold through the parts counter at Chevrolet car dealers. In 1969, the 4-piston disc brakes could be ordered as a Regular Production Option (RPO) JL8 package on production vehicles. These high-end brakes were made available to support racing programs like the Sports Car Club of America® (SCCA), and Trans-Am® road racing series. This unique brake option is very rare and was only sold on about 200 production vehicles. The rear JL8 brake system Fits 1968-1981 Camaro / Firebird. This Virtual Kit is configurable in the Shopping Cart - You can add or delete parts once they have been added to the shopping cart. If you want a different finish on the calipers you can remove them from the shopping cart and replace them with the desired calipers RK400-13 (red), RK400-20 (black w/o logo), or RK400-22 (raw as cast aluminum). If there are any parts that you don't need at this time, they can be removed from the shopping cart before checkout.
Minimum 15-inch diameter wheels are required for caliper clearance (low-profile wheel weights may be necessary for some 15-inch wheels). The REKUDO JL8 front brake system must use the front spindle set RK600-02 (since it has the caliper mounts and spindle pin for the front calipers and front hubs). The REKUDO JL8 rear brakes work with the factory GM 10-bolt 8.2", 10-bolt 8.5", or 12-bolt rear axles (all axles with staggered rear shocks) and factory C3 Corvette rear drum-style parking brakes (inside the hat of the rear rotors).
