REKUDO Front Suspension System

Not Available

OEM cars from the 1970s were designed for narrow bias-ply tires and had notoriously poor handling. Consumers today want to upgrade to modern wheel and tire packages and improve their handling. However, many times that required upgrading to suspension systems that utilize tubular control arms to get the improved steering geometry and desired stance. While this is fine for the race-inspired crowd, it clashes with the styling of a restomod, restored car or more classic themed car. Rekudo has solved this problem with its new suspension kit for the 1970-1981 Camaro/Firebird platforms. This suspension system is an auto-cross inspired modern suspension system that retains the original equipment (OE) appearance, style, and strength utilizing all new stamped upper and lower control arms. Each component is fully engineered to work together as a system for modern handling that is suitable for street driving, auto-cross, and track days. Now you can retain the OEM look, but get all the benefits from modern caster settings, camber curves, lowered stance, upgraded brakes and improved shocks/sway bars. The 4-wheel disc brake upgrade (C3 Corvette style 4-piston calipers for both front and rear) was offered on the 1968 Camaro as a "Heavy Duty Service" package sold through the parts counter at Chevrolet car dealers. In 1969, the 4-piston disc brakes could be ordered as a Regular Production Option (RPO) JL8 package on production vehicles. These high-end brakes were made available to support racing programs like the Sports Car Club of Americaยฎ (SCCA), and Trans-Amยฎ road racing series. This unique brake option is very rare and was only sold on about 200 production vehicles. Use with Corvette C3 Front Brake calipers and rotors. SCCAยฎ, Sports Car Club of Americaยฎ, and Trans-Amยฎ are registered trademarks of the Sports Car Club of America. This Virtual Kit is configurable in the Shopping Cart - You can add or delete parts once they have been added to the shopping cart. If you want an additional 1" front drop you can remove the front springs RK200-11 & replace this part with the 2" front lowering springs RK200-12. If you want to upgrade to the Delrin front control arm bushings - then add part number RK100-20 to the shopping cart (you will need to use a press to remove and install these optional bushings). If there are any parts that you don't need at this time, they can be removed from the shopping cart before checkout.

Control Arms RK100-21 (lower control arms RK100-21L & upper control arms RK100-21U) Must Be Used with Spindles RK600-02 for Improved Camber Curve - See Camber Curve Graph. Control Arms are Not Recommended for Use with stock Spindles Since Camber Will Be Too Negative. Spindles RK600600-02 must be used with RK100-21 Control Arms. The use of factory stock control arms will result in too much static positive camber. See the Attached Alignment Recommendations for - for Daily Driver, Weekend Warrior, and Track Only vehicle applications. Typical Static Camber Adjustment Range: 0° to -2° Typical Static Caster Range: +4° to +6° Note: 1970-1973 and some 1974 vehicles came from the factory with 1/2" lower control arm pivot bolts, and 1974-1981 vehicles came from the factory with larger 9/16" lower control arm pivot bolts. The REKUDO lower control arms use the larger 9/16" control arm pivot bolts. Most 1970-1973 (and some 1974) vehicles may need to open up the lower control arm pivot bolt holes on the chassis with a 9/16" drill bit. Some parts are shown mounted on a subframe for display only (since you cannot see the individual parts very well when installed on the vehicle). Minimum 15-inch diameter wheels are required with C3 Brakes for caliper clearance with 11.75" diameter rotors (low-profile wheel weights may be necessary for some 15-inch wheels). REKUDO JL8 Brake System - Fitment Notes: 1970-1981 Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird - Vehicles must use the whole REKUDO JL8 front and rear brake system since the parts are unique (front spindles, rotors, front hubs, dust shields, rear calipers adapters, calipers, and brake hoses/hardlines). The REKUDO JL8 front brake system must use the front spindle set RK600-02 (since it has the caliper mounts and spindle pin for the front calipers and front hubs). The REKUDO JL8 rear brakes work with the factory GM 10-bolt 8.2", 10-bolt 8.5", or 12-bolt rear axles (with staggered rear shocks) and factory C3 Corvette rear drum-style parking brakes (inside the hat of the rear rotors). Recommended Master Cylinder/Brake Booster - factory Power Brake Booster with master cylinder (1.125" bore size). Recommended Banjo Bolts: 977504ERL - 7/16"-20 Threads
