Texans have always been wild about trucks, so it’s only natural that this year LS Fest Texas added a new event putting the spotlight on hopped-up haulers in a wide array of events. The Texas Truck Shootout was open to all participants in any truck and SUV segment at LS Fest Texas 2024, including Car Show, Drag Race, Autocross, and Dyno Challenge.
For the Car Show portion of the Truck Shootout, LS Fest Texas this year got a revised format, with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in the Truck & SUV Category determining Truck Shootout show-winners instead of just one single category winner. In Drag Racing, 1st and 2nd place winners from Friday and Saturday’s Truck & SUV Class faced-off on Saturday night after eliminations to determine 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place overall for the Drag Race portion of the Truck Shootout.
The Truck Shootout’s Autocross segment had a similar format to Drag Race. The three fastest trucks and SUVs from the Saturday Autocross session faced off at the end of the day for one final round, with the fastest passes determining the winner.
Also new was a Truck & SUV-specific category in the Dyno Challenge. Event officials closely monitored horsepower numbers for Naturally Aspirated and Power Adder categories throughout the entire weekend to crown the truck or SUV that put down the most power, making them winner of the Truck Shootout’s Dyno segment.
The first-annual Texas Truck Shootout was a definite success, as evidenced by the heated competition and the smiles on everyone’s faces. It proved to be just the right spice to bring even more zest to the Lone Star State’s hottest automotive event!
