DiabloSport sponsored racer, Domenic DiDonato, and his team went out to the Yellow Bullet Nationals in Rising Sun, MD to put their turbo Mustang to the test.
Domenic on his performance,
Hey everyone, finally getting a minute to sit down and give a race update on Yellow Bullet from this last weekend. We showed up Thursday for testing, and ran consistent 4.8s with the new combo and very little adjustment, though we were fighting tire shake on the shifts. Fast forward to Friday night, and turned it up a little and had a violent tire shake right from the launch, netting us a less than stellar 5.3 pass. Mother Nature wasnโt cooperating Saturday, with racing cancelled for the day due to rain.
For our final qualifying attempt Sunday. We placed a call to Mark from Menscer Motorsports Sunday morning, and after a few minor chassis tweaks, we bettered our qualifying to a 4.75 and putting us 18th in a 32 car field. Not the best, but with very limited testing on the new combo, we were very happy with the results. Sunday night had us lined up with Bob and his new to him turbo-powered SN95 Mustang. Both cars stage, lights drop and Domenic rockets off with a very fast .014 reaction time and a new personal best of 4.70, but it wasnโt enough to hold off Bob and a stellar .000 reaction time and 4.64 ET. It was a bittersweet ending to the weekend, going out in first round of eliminations but shows the car has lots of potential.
A very special thank you to Craig from Triangle Speed Shop who could not make the trip due to Hurricane Harvey. He still supported us the whole weekend even though he was being evacuated. Thank you so much.
