Win the car that started it all with Holley’s latest Gearhead Sweepstakes! That’s right, David Freiburger’s very own “clapped out Buick” is up for grabs by one lucky winner.

“The car is a ’66 Buick special convertible that was bought in 1972 as a used car and driven until 1979 when the transmission failed,” said Freiburger. “This is arguably the car that started Roadkill as it’s the first video Finnegan and I ever did together that was sort of a car rescue adventure.”

Holley bought the car from Freiburger completely as-is and one lucky winner will take home a genuine piece of Roadkill history, rust and all. The floor even sports the same road-sign filler panels to replace the long-gone floorboards.

“[The Buick] was stored in the backyard of Rick Péwé [of Petersen’s 4-Wheel & Off-Road magazine, JP Magazine, and general off-road fame] mother’s house where it rotted into the ground,” said Freiburger. “It has completely rusted floors and no top whatsoever.”

The engine has been tuned up to running condition, the transmission replaced, and a full CPP suspension now resides underneath.

“It looks terrible, but it actually runs and drives perfectly,” said Freiburger.

Roadkill fans will instantly recognize the Buick from episode 100, but for those unfamiliar, here’s its onscreen debut from HOT ROD Unlimited Episode 5, the show that eventually lead to birth of Roadkill.
