Big Wrecks at Talladega

It's important to know this when you get on the track to race at Talladega: there is always the chance of a big wreck. Some drivers will intentionally drop to the back of the field to try to stay clear of what is usually a devastating pileup of race cars. Early in the International Motorsports Hall of Fame 250 ARCA race we saw a wreck that knocked out some race favorites. Later in the race, Mike Affarano walked away from a rolling crash that nearly tore his engine out of his car. Affarano wasn't the only victim of the 2.66 mile superspeedway during this weekend's ARCA race. Other drivers that were involved in accidents included Daytona winner Bobby Gerhart, Salem winner Alex Bowman, and Mike Harmon who escaped tragedy when Bowman's St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Chevy ran up and over Harmon's car on two wheels.
