A Partnership Rooted in Quality and Performance

Holley partnered with Malco Automotive to create Holley High-Performance Car Care, with Malco manufacturing every item in-house at its factory in Ohio. The family-owned company has been supplying professional-grade automotive detailing products for more than 70 years, so Holley’s enthusiast customers can take confidence from the knowledge they are using top-quality products to detail their rides.

“The goal was to create a credible line of proven detailing products,” explains Doug Wright, business unit director at Holley Performance. “We were able to sit down with Malco and identify the products and formulations that fit our customers’ needs the best – in addition to making recommendations and changes to formulas that are specific to our product line. We didn’t want to just relabel something off-the-shelf. We wanted to ensure that the products are meaningful and relevant to our consumers.

The Holley/Malco Racing Connection

“For Holley and Malco, it’s a full-circle moment,” he continues. “Back in the 1960s, Malco was a major sponsor of drag cars in the Gasser era. They sponsored championship driver George Montgomery, as did Holley brands Mr. Gasket and Hurst, so there are still race-winning cars out there that feature all our brands on the same vehicle.”

That pride in the Malco partnership is reflected on the product bottles, which carry the wording, ‘Proven formulas engineered by Malco’.

When choosing products for the new range, the Holley/Malco team recognized that owners don’t just wash and detail their vehicles at home, where water and detailing tools are within easy reach. Therefore, in addition to tackling the traditional, multi-step wash and detail cycle with a high-quality shampoo and a ceramic-based detailer, the range also includes formulations that will keep the vehicle looking great when at a car show or away on a weekend drive.

“The waterless wash product, Speed Wash, is great when you’re parked in a grass field for the weekend and still want your car to look good,” offers Wright by way of example. “It requires nothing but a bottle of product and a microfiber towel, and you can remove all that dust, dew, or whatever else happens to get onto the vehicle over the weekend.

“But Speed Wash isn’t just a waterless wash: it has a wax infusion to it, so it’s a two-in-one product that leaves behind a layer of protection. We believe that separates it from a lot of similar products in the market.”

As with the rest of the High-Performance Car Care line, both these products were formulated at Malco’s development labs, where its team of PhD-level chemists and quality engineers are constantly exploring new and innovative formulas, and benchmarking against the highest-grade products in the industry. In the case of the new product line, formulation changes have been made to cater the product to the specific use cases of Holley’s customers.

As part of the development process, every product has been competitively tested against the established names in the field, and Wright is sure that the new line will be a match for the best the competition has to offer.

He identifies Tire Shine as another highlight of the new range. Tire dressings are commonplace, but Holley chose a solvent-based formula for its new Tire Shine, which provides faster drying. This reduces the risk of product slinging across the rims and paint when you drive away, leaving unsightly residues. It’s also another example of a two-in-one product, as it can be used to revitalize faded or dull, black-plastic exterior-trim components.

Looking beyond the staging lanes more products from the Holley/Malco R&D collaboration are also scheduled for release later this year, including additional ceramic protection products, and a system focused on cleaning and detailing high-performance engine bays.

“We’re making professional-grade products and formulas available to Holley customers,” sums up Wright. “We’re excited that our partnership with Malco will deliver outstanding products for performance enthusiasts, backed by trusted detailing expertise.”

Soft launched at LS Fest West in Las Vegas in April, the first wave of Holley High-Performance Car Care products highlighted here are now available to buy through Holley.com or on Amazon and will also appear on the shelves at our retail partners in the months to come.
