Holley LS Fest 2022: Meet the Gas Pedal Kid

Holley LS Fest East marks the start of a busy fall for Elias Gabriel, also known as GasPedalKid, a 13-year-old amateur motorsports photographer with a growing following. After starting photography a little over three years ago he’s been to drift, drag, and off-road racing events, honing his skills and meeting some great drivers and photographers along the way. He’s been able to sit shotgun in drift cars, ride with Lauren Healy in his Bronco, and got to see how one of his favorite photographers, John Jackson, does his magic with off-camera strobes.

Gabriel hopes to shoot LS Fest West and LS Fest Texas in the near future and aspires to photograph the legendary Pikes Peak International Hillclimb where another of his favorite photographers, Larry Chen, has created fantastic images. Up next for Gabriel’s busy fall is Holley MoParty, then Street Takeover.

Afer starting with a Sony DSLR, Gabriel moved to a Nikon briefly before he landed on his current Canon DSLR and his favorite pair of lenses a 24-105mm and a 70-200mm, both well-suited for action photography. We asked him what his favorite cars to shoot were and he had a hard time narrowing it down. “I like supercars, Japanese cars. . .” He said, as he began listing his numerous interests. After seeing so many fantastic cars and trucks over the past few years, we had to ask what he’d like to be his first car. This was an easier question to answer “A Ford Focus RS hatchback” he quickly replied. Not a bad call, even if it may be a bit controversial at LS Fest.
