2015 marks the debut of the Ilmor 396 engine package that is available to be used by any ARCA team. This engine features a 3.6" stroke and 4.186" bore to get to 396 cubic inches. A Holley HP EFI system is charged with controlling fueling and ignition. With this being a "control" engine for the series, it dramatically reduces costs to teams who run it. In this case, teams can have their cake and eat it too, as early results have shown the engine combination to be a legitimate contender. Several Holley EFI equipped teams were running times fast enough to put them in the top five earlier in the day. In addition to Holley EFI, all of the fuel injected cars will be utilizing Holley-sourced fueling components including fuel pumps, regulators, and filters, along with an ARCA-spec Holley HydraMat. Holley also produces the valve covers and steam port vent kits on all of the Ilmor engines. The Ilmor engines also utilize Hooker Tri-Y headers built specifically for the engine. Earl's Performance Plumbing is responsible for the transfer of oil and fuel with Ultra Flex stainless braided hose and fittings systems. Teams that are utilizing carbureted combinations are using a spec Holley carburetor as well. Be sure to tune into Fox Sports 1 on Saturday, February 14 at 4:00 p.m. EST for the Lucas Oil 200.
