Holley MoParty 2022: B&M and Hemmings Present The 3S Challenge

09/18/2022

Sunday is the last day of Holley’s MoParty and is the last chance for the Grand Champion competitors to fight their way to the top. The B&M and Hemmings 3S Challenge is the last piece of the puzzle for the trifecta in the Grand Champion points race. The total points for the weekend is composed of equal parts autocross, drag racing and 3S Challenge. The 3S stands for Start, Steer, and Stop. This segment is all about extremes. You hit it as hard as you can to race to the end, whip it around and fully throttle until you hit the stop box. If you hit a single cone, your run counts as a DNF. The difficult part is that there are two mirrored sides to the course and you’re not looking for your single fastest time, but the fastest combined time for both.

Justin Peachy ran a week ago at LS Fest in his Corvette-kart, but this week, he brought his brother’s Viper to take on the Mopar crowd. His Viper has managed to sweep the autocross, and ran the 3S Challenge with ease. Peachey was roughly a second faster than anyone else in competition, with a combined time of 22.680 for his left and right-lane runs. The Vintage class saw the 1970 Challenger of Kurt Chenoweth sweep the class again, running only a second behind Peachy at 23.656! The 3S Challenge is one of the most fun segments to watch with tire smoke when everyone launches and then again when they are locking up their brakes as they try to not hit the cones in the stop box.
