HyperSpark Ready-to-Run distributors are the perfect solution for those running a Holley Sniper EFI and in need of affordable, plug-and-play ignition timing control. “The HyperSpark Ready-to-Run Distributor is the easiest way to achieve timing control through your Sniper EFI system,” said Colin Kinser of Holley. “The distributor produces a stout spark output for engines up to 450 horsepower and thanks to the unique Holley phasing cap, the EFI sync signal and timing of the engine is easy to set up.”
While HyperSpark Ready-to-Run distributors are also compatible with Terminator X and other Holley EFI systems, their main objective is to be a clean and easy to install product that helps Sniper EFI users take their engine combinations to the next level. Adding timing control allows for a more stable engine idle, improved throttle response, better fuel economy, and can create a more robust power and torque curve for an improved driving experience. Better yet, this distributor is completely compatible with OEM ignition coils. For a rundown on exactly how to install one, watch the video above and follow along belong as we detail installation steps.
Once the distributor is prepared (gear lubed, gasket installed) and the engine is positioned with the number one cylinder under compression and at TDC, place the clear rotor cap over the rotor until it’s flush on the distributor base then install the assembly into the engine. Note that the rotor will turn as the cam and distributor gears mesh and when installed, the rotor will be pointing to where the number one spark plug wire will go.
Once the distributor is fully seated, note the identification notch on the base of the clear cap just to the side of the rotor position. This is where you need to mark the number one plug wire location.
With the cylinder number one location marked, install the distributor cap and the number one plug wire followed by the remaining wires in the correct firing order.
Wiring the Distributor is an easy affair as well: an input and output to the Sniper, two wires (+ and -) to the coil,a ground and a 12 volt source are all that's necessary.
