Transmission

Transmission started slipping real bad 3 weeks after I bought the car, removed the trans pan and found lots of clutch material and metal chips, so it's off to the school so I can replace replace it...

Here it is on the hoist at school,to R & R the transmission, Just like I did with engine. No one touches my car except me..

Removed the transmission...What a nasty mess it was...leaking tail shaft seal and speedo...

Pretty nasty on the outside and on disassembly worse on the inside, so I found a good deal on 1 just rebuilt with a shift kit and a 1100 stall, which i replaced later, on Craig's list...Looked brand new, worked like new, I was very happy.

I also added a aluminum finned trans pan, a chrome flywheel cover, heavy duty flex plate and a B & M mini starter.. I also replace both U-joints and installed a urethane transmission mount, Replaced the transmission both lines with new ones....Still wanting to add a trans cooler...

I did later replace the 11,00 stall torque converter, with a 34,000 stall, which was much smaller in size, lucky the flex plate had two different size bolt patterns.

After the road test WOW what a big difference my out-of-the-hole take off was! Smoking tires like mad!

Looks much better, works great, solid shifts, can even chirp the tires when it shifts to 2nd gear.. love it...

Lastly I removed the center console and the stock shifter mechanism cable, etc.. Then installed a B&M ratchet shifter. Wasn't cheap either, but worth every penny. Also it wasn't easy to install had to lock the column lock in place then adapt all the wiring for the new shifter.

Turned out not bad. After road testing it I was quite pleased in how nicely it worked. Way better than the stock shifter looks way better too!
