Getting Ready for the new Drag racing season!

By: Jack 02/17/2021

Brakes update:

After going to the track, it was obvious that I needed to finally install a line lock to get better burnouts without going sideways and burning up my rear brakes. I just added a toggle switch since I'm still running my stock steering wheel. I plan to custom build a bracket to add a monetary switch for this and my manual trans shift for my sloppy 2.0 Transbrake.

Holley boost control:

I also wanted to have Holley start controlling the boost so I can set up a boost-by-time strategy down the track. I tapped into the Map signal so I can reference intake pressure. I didn't want to run dome control since I don't have a second port on my wastegate and I don't plan to run co2.

Sloppy 2.0 "Transbrake" spool mod:

To make everything work together I changed the WOT shifting so I can leave it in D3 instead of manually shifting and still get it to shift at 7k rpm.

Once I had the tune and I/O pin map set up I had to add a few relays and switches. I set up a Power switch that sends power to a line lock Switch and a Trans Auto Manual Switch.

The Trans Auto Manual Switch Sends a +12v signal to activate The Auto manual shift mode in the Holley. it also is used to activate a launch rev limiter and boost target. With the switch on and the transmission in D3, it will be locked into 3rd gear. This will allow me to build boost without pushing me through the beams (before in 1st gear I could only get to about 0-1lbs max without pushing through). Once I'm at the boost or rpm set by the rev limiter and you turn off the Trans Auto Manual Switch it will put the trans back in 1st gear and launch.

Holley I/O Updates:

Inputs: 1) Flex Fuel. 2) Trans Auto Manual Switch 3.) Dome Map 4.) Launch Rev Limiter

Outputs: 1) Electric Fan. 2) Boost Controller. 3) Second Fuel Pump. 4) Trans Auto Manual mode signal for Launch Rev Limiter
