Holley Terminator X In a VW Camper? Heck yeah

I purchased a stock 1985 VW Westfalia Camper in October of 2018. The body was in great shape but the engine and transmission needed to be rebuilt to get her ready for another 35 year. From the beginning I had issues with the stock fuel injection / engine management system. It was called Digijet. It relied on 3 main inputs, the Air Flow Meter, the Coolant Temp Sensor and the single wire 02 sensor. It had a vacuum advance distributor and an old school coil. It had an idle boost valve for when the power steering pump was at high pressure.

I worked with Oreland Auto, in Oreland Pennsylvania, Steve Felker. He recommended putting a modern fuel injection system in place. My goal was to maintain as much of the stock look as possible while improving the driving experience and reliability. Well, it worked, really really well.

Most people spend $10,000 -$12,000 swapping a Subaru motor into the Vanagons. This was far less money and I can still have any VW mechanic work on it.

After spending the time to rebuilt the engine (Chris Vogt) and have the automatic transmission rebuilt (Matt Steedle Transmissions) this was the icing on the cake. She now climbs hills much better and she cruises along the highway with traffic, not slowing everyone down.

I may not be Holley's traditional customer, but I am glad that Steve from Oreland Auto recommended the Terminator X.

I won't be making any 1/4 mile drag runs, dyno tests or laps on a racetrack, but I am a very happy customer.
