Brake-Dive Correction

By: David 05/17/2021

2/21 - The Design of the 3-Link setup from Trail Gear has a lot of Dive (when braking) for me. I ran the numbers in the 3-Link Calculator (that's available online) and realized it was at about 35% anti-dive which might be okay for rock crawling but I want something above 80% for multi-purpose driveing and came up with a solution (I hoped).

I needed to shorten the front lower links, which meant I needed to move the frame mounts forward, which meant I needed to find and buy new mounts, which meant I had to find the location I was going to put them and see what type of mount was required :)

So anyways, some pics of getting the new mounts welded into position

I moved the mounts inwards as well to a give it a more triangulated design for more stability. Made sense in my head at least.

I was able to mount it to the bottom of the top link bracket.

On the Drivers side I had to make my own stand-off brackets to match the other side.

I had to cut the exhaust and have it redesigned around the bracket.

I won't mention why there is a fourth upper link bracket in the picture.... okay I'll mention it, I actually tried to do a 4-link design to help with bump steer, but I'm an idiot and it was a disaster, not only was bump steer worse but the steering was horrendous. It felt like I was driving in mush (whatever that is), It barely went where I steered it, It would not go back to center and it was hard to steer in some situations, very scary.... so we won't talk about that anymore :).

It worked! I got it to around 90% anti-dive and feels great for me.
