The sub 10k VetteKart

By: erik 07/09/2022

My COVID project. After binge watching Roadkill during lockdown I decided to go for it on building a vettekart. Purchased this 1986 corvette out of a swamp in Louisiana for $375 dollars.

Its a Manual car with the horrible Doug Nash 4+3 overdrive thing. I stripped it down to the frame, bucket and suspension. Sold the body panels, interior and everything else i didnt need to cover the rebuild cost. Ended up netting $7485.00 on basically parting it out of everfything I didnt need. This left me some coin to mnake it the way i wanted to.

Engine had a spun bearing so i pulled it. Had the block bored .030 over and dropped an eagle competition roatating assembly in it. Topped with a dart top end kit and a nasty Howards bracket racing roller cam setup with scorpion 1.6 roller rockers. Topped with a Holley Super Sniper setup and MSD 6AL ignition box. It put down 606 HPO at 5900 RPM on the dyno.

Sold the Super t-10 with attached Actual working Doug Nash overdrive for a shiny new Tremec TKX overdrive transmission. Put a Hayes Aluminum Flywheel and clutch on it.

Roll cage is 1.75 DOM tubing and was bent and welded by me in my driveway.

Safety gear is a Kirkey Full containment set, RaceQuip Harness and window nets.

AfterDark Speed Adjustable trailing, strut and toe arms in the back to keep it planted(ish)

Total out of pocket spent $8,942.30

Future Plans are to add Coilovers front and back as it is a bit stiff considering it weighs 1800lbs less than it came from the factory and the factory monoleafs are a bit stiff and old.

THIS CAR HAS NEVER BEEN ON A LIFT SINCE I BOUGHT IT. ALL WORK WAS DONE IN A DRIVEWAY.
