Seats, FINALLY!

By: Josh 10/19/2022

My last post made one thing clear, I NEED A RACING SEAT!

And that my friends, is exactly what I've got! RaceQuip makes some great seats and I've got to say, I am really liking these. I've got the 15" medium size (which is the smallest size) full containment FIA-certified seat for the driver's side, bolted as low as I can straight to the floor. On the passenger side I've got the 16" large size (the middle size they offer) non-containment but still, FIA-certified seat.

The driver's seat will be a one-and-done fixed seating position. Non-adjustable without unbolting and changing slots. On the passenger side, however, I felt kind enough to try to let a multitude of different-sized people feel comfortable. Thus, the passenger side is going to get a seat slider. This allows the seating position to slide a huge amount forward and backward, at the expense of being 1" higher up. MisterTwo has such a low roof, it was really a necessity that I mount my seat as low as possible. To all my tall passengers: sorry!

I've also got a pair of very nice Schroth racing harnesses. These are both the 6-point "enduro" style down-pull cam-lock style. The passenger side is a 3" shoulder belt for comfort and the driver's side is a 2" to 3" hybrid set specifically for the Hans device.

I ended up cutting brand new seat brackets for both the driver's side and passenger side in order to maximize the fitment. I am very curious to see if these new seats weigh less than my old setup!
