SRT 392 Ranger

By: Matthew 06/16/2023

Bought about a year ago just to have beater truck around. It was a 2.5L 5 speed manual truck. I came across a 392 Hemi for a good price that had dropped a valve, so I repaired it. A co-worker said I should put it in the Ranger so I finally did. A bit of frame modification was needed. I fabricated engine mounts & modified the transmission crossmember. The powertrain is a '21 6.4L Hemi pulled from a '21 Scat Pack. The transmission is a TR6060 pulled from a Hellcat with a top-load Hurst short throw shifter. The clutch is dual plate also from a Hellcat. The 7.5 rear diff was replaced with an 8.8 LSD 31 spline unit with 4.10 ratio. A Denny's Driveshaft custom nitrous shaft connects the Tremec to the diff. The suspension is a 3/5 drop kit & the upper control arms/mounts have been modified to correct camber. A rear sway bar was added to control body roll. The wheels are 20X10.5 wrapped in 295/30/20's. The frame has been fully welded, there are no more riveted cross braces. The cooling system is a factory Scat Pack system, & the truck is modified to accommodate it. This included notching & re-boxing the frame to allow for radiator mounts. An A/C system is the next step. I'm basing the system on a 2015 Ram & the HVAC box has been heavily modified to allow engine clearance. Future modifications will be a Mustang independent rear suspension, fuel cell & fully boxing/crossbracing the frame.
