Front Brake Upgrade

Completely unnecessary and I love it! I've been running MisterTwo track day after track day all on Amazon Power Stop pads and rotors. I did start to get the smallest amount of brake fade deep into track day sessions, but nothing to write home about, and surely nothing that proper brake pads wouldn't have fixed. On the other hand, why not put the biggest brake setup you can fit under 15" wheels on?

Welcome to my very own big brake kit! I looked at a couple of brake kits for the MR2. Namely, Techno Toy Tuning. Normally I like their products. But for $1100 something had to give. Theirs uses an unknown brake rotor they advertise as 290mm. Now, I'm not gonna say mine are better... but I'm using 294mm rotors! $32 per rotor on rock auto for name-brand Raybestos baby. One of my friends sold me some used forged Dynalite calipers (powder-coated red instead of gray anodized). I think the red matches the car very nicely!

After that, all I needed to do was make a caliper bracket. The bracket T3 gives you is anodized yellow, which I can live with but isn't preferable. But their design is shaped like a dog bone, and they leaned into it by etching "woof woof" and a dog's face on the side. Now, some people are into that, but I think I could make something cooler. I machined up a bracket that I think is awesome.

Moreover, I decided to install a 1" bore master cylinder and Wilwood rear proportioning valve. I threw T3 a "bone" (ha, get it?) and bought their brake booster delete plate. I figured for $100 it saves me time and guesswork.

Anyways, Earls made it easy to get adapters and brake lines that work great for connecting everything together!

My total bill for the big brake kit, and booster delete, new master, billet material, everything discussed here was about $500. Not too shabby.
