Life

By: Mark 10/02/2023

My first car was a 71GP castilian Bronze. Did not know what I got into at the time but fell in love with the driving excitement. Sadly i hit a snow bank after my winter beater died and I never forgave myself. Took it apart to do frame off resto. Teenager’s dream. Unfortunately life got busy and years passed while it sat in my garage half done. This green one I bought to get my enthusiasm back to the garage and finish my project. Workaholism is a disease. My brother in law did the body work since he had time and I didn’t. Pictured here 20 years or more later. It was almost done. All i had to do was put the chrome back on and vinyl roof. Disappointed from an engine build that blew 2 cases of oil in 1400 miles then started knocking I parked it for 15 years. Sun destroyed everything, including my car cover. So i am starting over. Uhg! The dream is back on! After getting my $&??! continually handed to me at work from my coworkers I finally got help to remove the hood to start the project, only to find out the knock was loose converter bolts. It had to come out anyway cause I hate leaks. Jack Boyd built the 400 motor that was originally in this car and Dyno’d 357hp with 467lbft of torque. Fresh motor installed back in engine bay and detailed everything under the hood back to originality except for the air conditioning, for now. Original rally wheels restored and in basement for when car gets to show quality. 17” rims and rubber fixed the front end tire push and squeal. This car when finished will become the most original 71GP I have seen. Then i can get into my garage to finish the other one. Maybe that will give me something to put that 455 in that I have sitting under my bench.
