History

So this chassis was built by Laughlin Racing Products, with a front clip serial #LPR943. The #7 NASCAR team was owned by Alan Kulwicki, who was the 1992 NASCAR Cup Champion, unfortunately he died in a plane crash in April 1,1993. The team was then purchased by Geoff Bodine and ran till 1997, when he took on a partner Jim Mattei. In 1998 Mattei Motorsports purchased Geoff Bodine's interest. In the end of 1997 beginning of 1998, Mattei Motorsports took this chassis to Leading Edge Race Cars, and had the new 1998 Ford Taruas body installed. I believe this car never raced with this body on it, and was used as a show car. While I was looking over the car, (3) of the wheels are stamped with AK7 1/93, which the teams did, to identify them at the GoodYear trailer when they were having tires installed, and they put date codes on most everything to keep track of how old they would be. But this chassis is older and they didn't start putting team ID on the car chassis till the mid 1995 era. So this chassis is older than that. I have be still trying to find more information on this chassis and what possible racing heritage it may have. My plans are to make it street legal.
