The Journey of Mabel

Mabel was originally purchased by my Great Uncle in Ohio, who picked the car up at the factory in South Bend, Indiana. He, unfortunately, passed away around 6 months after purchasing the car. The car was driven by my Great Aunt for a couple years before she garaged it, as it drew the wrong type of attention for a widower. My Grandpa purchased the car from his sister in the the spring of 1978 and drove it from Cleveland, Ohio to Lake Charles Louisiana. It became his weekend car, driving it to and from his masonic lodge. The car eventually, needing brake work and exhaust work, ended up sitting under a car cover for a little over a decade. At the age of 12, visiting my grandpa, I convinced him to pull the cover off and start wrenching again. We got the car going after a couple years of work and would drive it every time I visited. The car remained in his possession until he passed away in 2008. The car then made the journey down to Orlando, Florida where, my Uncle, his eldest son lived. I was able to purchase the car in 2011. My uncle did not want to get rid of Mabel, but no longer had time as he became a grandfather. The car has remained in my possession ever since, frequenting Caffeine & Octane events in Atlanta during my high school and college years. As of 2024, the car has made its journey out to Grand County, Colorado where it will remain with me for the foreseeable future.
