Abandoned treasure

By: Mark 03/22/2025

I found the Jeep abandon in my development. I watched for it to be moved or occupied for 3 years. It was never touched during that time period. I applied for an abandoned Vehicle title in Arizona. I had to do my due diligence in locating the owner of the vehicle , and I had 30 days to get it done before I presented my findings to the police. They then would make one attempt before signing off to issue the revised title. 1 week into my search I located the owner living in Canada. The owner informed me that he was not returning for the vehicle, but he was willing to sell it to me. We settled on a price of $750. He found a representative to act on his behalf. I received the original title, bill of sale and the keys. The jeep only had 87k miles.

I took ownership and began repairing parts that had dry rotted, all the sensors, 4 new tires, and a number of bushings, tie rod ends. In all I spent 2500 which included all the fluids, filters, and a couple odds and ends.

upon completion my wife and I went cross country in it racking up 9k in miles. Since it’s made three additional cross country trips. Two years ago, the computer failed and needed replacement. I had it repaired instead. That didn’t last long before I had to find another computer. Jump forward in time 1 year, and in that time it took me 5 refurbished computers to get it running properly. NEVER USE CARDONE computers, wound up buying one from a wrecked WK. that computer was perfect. I’ve since added CAI, cat back stainless steel exhaust system by magnaflow ,4 more tires for the beach. I recently added the Diablo Sport i3 to tune it a bit better. Oh boy what a difference that made. I also added 2” spacers to the front and rear. Additionally I tore out the shocks Snd struts and installed Heavy duty What a great treat. For a 20 year old vehicle it only had 115k on the odometer. now I’m in phase 2. CAI, cat back exhaust, Diablo sport tuner. OMG. What a beast. This is by far the fastest vehicle I’ve ever driven.

Fast off the line with the awd. I’ve been offered

$8700. Many people stop to look at it and ask questions. They’re astonished that it’s not an SRT. I tell them that the SRT8 did not come out until 2006. I run a single exhaust out the rear by MagnaFlow. I installed the part #16631 cat back. Quiet at idle and in slow driving conditions. Just like a perfect sleeper. But when you romp on it what comes out is perfect music, and at which point the other person in the other car realizes what’s going to happen! 9 out of 10 times the other party hangs their head in defeat !
