Nova daily driver project

By: Samuel 08/12/2019

I purchased this car 2 years ago. My first car was a 70 Nova with a 454 in it that I drove to school everyday. After High School, I joined the Air Force in 1984. In 1989, financial times got hard and I ended up selling my Nova. A few years ago, I got a small insurance settlement and decided it was time to finally build a Nova. I was initially going to find a roller and build it up from the ground but my wife convinced me to spend all the money to fulfill my dream and buy a good running project to build. So I found this car and instantly fell in love with the look plus it had a ZZ502 crate engine and mini tubs already. The first mod I had to do was replace the brakes. It had four wheel drum and they were shot out. So, I replaced the whole system with power disc brakes at all four corners. Next I replaced the racing seats with reclining buckets and cut the roll cage out. Next up was fixing the cooling system. It had a stock size aluminum radiator and an electric fan which was fine for bracket racing but did nothing to cool down that big block in the Arizona heat. So I added a triple pass radiator, dual 12" fans and shroud, I also needed to add a 150 amp alternator to run the dual fans.

Future plans are to add a 4L80E transmission, rewire the whole car, add a full interior (so I can take a couple of the grandkids on cruises), add EFI, and add a tilt column.
