Vehicle Overview

My official build thread is here: https://www.celica-gts.com/forums/index.php?topic=30921.0 This is my daily driver, but also track day car. I'm using it to learn high performance driving while also getting to and from work. Right now it has the stock carbureted 22R that has 284,000 miles on it, and I purchased this car for $1,400! I have attended the following with it so far: SpeedSF Autocross at Sonoma Raceway NASA HDPE at Sonoma Raceway NASA HDPE at Thunderhill East. Modifications List: -Tires are Yokohama S.Drives on Centerline Auto Drag 15x7 wheels, 0 offset. -Front Suspension bushings have been changed to Energy Suspension Polyurethane. -Front control arms have been replaced with new OEM units that were braced with TIG welded steel plates to prevent distortion under load. -All steering components have been replaced with new stock pieces, except for the outter tie rods ends which are Techno Toy Tuning units -Rear shocks replaced -Homemade gauge panel was fabricated to house 3 1.5" Autogauge mini gauges (oil pressure, water temp, voltage) -5 speed shifter was changed to a CubeSpeed unit, Hurst level and ball were added to it using a homemade TIG welded bracket. Shifter bushing replaced with BillyM unit.

Future Plans

Turbo! I will hopefully be able to build a new 22R with a forged rotating assembly for use with forced induction. I would love to find a way to make one of Holley's new 2 barrel 2300 TBI units work with blow through! I would be alot cheaper than trying to convert to a standalone EFI system. Or I could run a Holley 2 barrel street avenger and try and mod that for boost if EFI becomes too complex. I will also be upgrading the suspension (coilovers) and rear end (Ford 8.8" or 9") at some point!

Howdy, I dig the old Toyota's. You can run the Holley Sniper 2300 EFI with blow through boost and I got it to work with Draw-thru boost as well on the 22R. Check out My Garage. Also check out LCE Performance on the web, they specialize on the 22R. Oh, and I just saw Holley has come out with the 2300 Super Sniper EFI which is already setup for boost.

Sweet! Maybe I will see you driving this thing at a Thunderhill track-day next season!
