  • Vehicle Overview

G Body. 305 gutless V8. A 1987 LS Monte Carlo, frame off restoration. Started life out as some tin in 1986, a year later was manufactured & rolled off GM's assembly line in early 1987, She most likely was sold to a good home as when my dad bought her she was fairly clean(rust wise, we live in "rust belt") had a few 'surface' rust issues to be taken care of. My dad initially bought it with the idea of 'drag racin' it. Well what was going to be a "drag car" turned into stripping EVERYTHING out of the shell, lifting the car body off the frame(mind you this is in a 25'x30' garage with a mild 8' garage door and cherry picker. Dad sand blast the frame, painted the frame then came time for the shell, got all new bushing, bolts, etc.. we put the shell back on(mind you were using a cherrypicker and sawhorses to move the shell about 25'. Inch, by inch my dad and I got shell of the Monte back in the garage. Dad slowly lowered the cherypicker while I snagged the sawhorses from underneath the shell, then we set it back on the freshly sandblasted and painted frame. Dad has since then had to adjust the body 2 times the first time was shortly after we had gotten the roll cage almost done, nothing major rear bumper was slightly off, shitty part was dad had already pop-rivited the holes in the floor and the back seat area, so he had to pop rivit them all back after the second finessing of the body. .... (to be cont.)
