Vehicle Overview
Our 1941 Willys Hot Rod was built over a 14-year period by my wife and I and we are just starting our fifth year on the road. We did most of the work ourselves, but had professional help with the exhaust, bodywork & paint and interior. We found the Chrysler Hemi engine in a Mopar junkyard in South Carolina back in 2001, and took a few years to rebuild it into the Hilborn injected, supercharged engine as shown in the pictures. When the engine was nearly finished, we ordered a fiberglass ’41 Willys body with tilt front end and Stage III chassis from Outlaw Performance. It took nine more years to finish our Willys. The early Hemi engine has Hilborn/Holley HP Electronic Fuel Injection and a BDS 8-71 blower. The engine internals feature the stock forged crank with Manley H-beam rods and Ross forged aluminum pistons, along with a Comp Cams Extreme Energy cam. The body features a motorized tilt front end, full leather interior and custom Willys logo LED tail lights. It also has a Tremec TKO 600 5 speed O/D manual transmission with a Dana 60 rear end with 3.73 gears.
