Vehicle Overview

69 Firebird Convertible, owned since October 1993 and currently being restored. I have never driven the vehicle since owning as it went into storage when I joined the Army in 1995. Replaced one floor prior to joining the Army. Finally in November of 2016 I started dedicating 1 hr a night to the restore while still in the Army. In 2016 I put it on an Auto-Rotisserie for much of the full body restore that took 2 years. In 2018 nearly all of body work was complete, front and rear suspension was completed with updated 4 Link Ride Tech Level 2 Suspension, and I also swapped the Transmission with a Curry GM F-Body 9" Cate Rear-end with 3.70 Gear Ratio (i.e. Ford 9") just in time to move to another assignment in the Army. I have also put new tires and rims on the vehicle; Front Rim is 17"X8 with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S 245/40/17 and Rear Rim is 18"X 9 with same Michelin but size 275/35/18. I just Swapped the Engine and Transmission with LT1 6.2L 455HP and TR-6060 Manual Transmission; currently making modifications to make this beast fit in the F-Body Frame. Modifications to get it to fit have included swapping the oil pan to a LT Fabricated Aluminum Oil Pan (went with a Moroso 20155 but recommend using Holley); changing the engine mounts and transmission mounting plate (used Muscle Rods F-Body LT Conversion Kit but again would go with Holley if I had to do it again); changing the Headers to an LT Series 1 7/8" SS Long Tube Headers for 1st Gen F Body (purchased from Muscle Rods); and swapping the Accessory Drive with a Holley 20-200 Mid-Mount Accessory Drive Kit.
