Advertised performance vs. real life requirements

To the point: These headers can most likely provide their +18hp, but the spark plug wires are the issue. You cannot physically install "factory" designed wires on a number of cylinders. It's not the brand of the wires, it's the sheer lack of space. To be specific - cylinder numbers 3, 4, 5, and 6. Installation instructions do not specify, but you must, first, install spark plugs, second, connect plug wires to spark plugs, third, install headers, fourth, connect plug wires to coil packs. The magical cylinders (3,4,5,6) MUST have a certain angle on the spark plug boot. For visual reference, you can look at (Holley part #561-102). If you forget this requirement while installing, or if you're replacing a plug - you MUST remove the header. Cylinders 1, 2, 7, and 8 are normal and won't put up a fight. Also, I highly recommend wrapping both the header and the spark plug wires. I've burned through three! plug wires on the number 3 cylinder. It's the first time I've ever witnessed a plug wire almost melt in half (not once, not twice, but three times). I have pictures but don't see a way to post them. My personal opinion: There's this thing called "DFS" (Design for Serviceability). We all feel this pain when working on our vehicles, but I don't enjoy it with aftermarket components. I read on one forum that it was recommended to "ding" the headers so the plug wires would fit - I'm not doing that. Hooker - I'd happily give back a few horsepower to be able to change my spark plugs or spark plug wires without removing the Blackheart header. I know your engineers have far more knowledge than I'll ever have on exhaust systems ... ... but it would be really nice to have access to my plugs/plug wires.
